This past week promised to bring excitement and it did not disappoint.
However, investors were feeling beat down after the Fed’s pause did not meet their expectations.
The hawkish tone in the Fed’s decision were echoed by Powell during the post-FOMC press conference as he made his point clear – rates would remain higher for longer.
If that wasn’t painful enough, especially for anyone hoping a pivot would be on the horizon, Jerome gave a stiff kick to rate cut rumors by suggesting further hikes were still on the table for this year.
The decision to pause may have been straight forward, but there was plenty to unpack and dissect in how the Fed delivered the news.
