Staying in the Game

Rule #1 in investing: DO NOT BLOW UP!

It is ok to miss some short term gains in order to avoid big draw downs.

This also means that sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. However, this can also be the hardest thing to do.

Especially when markets are violently sideways and investors lack the attention span to objectively consider opposing views.

In that regard, Brent and Jon discuss the casualties of an economic cold war (and inevitable kinetic war) with China.

Plus, how clickbait blindness fuels tribalism, and the importance of time horizons when developing a narrative.

Perhaps the best way to sum up this episode might be in one quote:
“People don’t want to hear your opinion, they want to hear their opinion come out of your mouth.”
